Total VOC levels can increase even after the paint dries<\/span><\/em>, and this can be especially problematic for people with asthma or allergic diseases. This means that their symptoms may not only be triggered immediately following paint application, but also over time.<\/p>\n

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) is proud to announce that Benjamin Moore\u00ae is introducing a solution for families living with these chronic diseases that are looking to redecorate their homes and walls! Benjamin Moore\u2019s Natura\u00ae Premium Interior Paint is now Certified asthma & allergy friendly<\/strong>\u00ae because it is scientifically proven to considerably reduce your exposure to irritants that may trigger your asthma or allergies.<\/p>\n

The certification process tests the paint to ensure the product does not have properties that are likely to trigger your symptoms. The paint must meet the most stringent requirements for chemicals known to adversely impact human health or the environment.<\/p>\n

There is a 3-part certification process, and it is to:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Monitor the level of VOCs emitted by the paint at 24, 48, and 336 hours following application;<\/li>\n
  2. Evaluate the physical performance of the paint, including drying time, scrubbability, cleanability, and adhesion; and<\/li>\n
  3. Review the chemical composition of the paint to ensure that allergenic and sensitizing chemicals are low or non-existent.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
