That\u2019s why I\u2019ve put together some tips and tricks to help you \u201cGO\u201d this month when it comes to your asthma and allergies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Review your medical history.<\/strong> Request your asthma and allergy records, or set an appointment to review them with your doctor. It\u2019s important to recall your history so future treatment can be adjusted as needed.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Schedule a check-up.<\/strong> If you feel your asthma and allergies are getting worse, discuss with your doctor and ask if he or she believes an examination is necessary.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Know where your medication is.<\/strong> Whether you use over-the-counter medications, prescription inhalers, or any other therapies, make sure they are easy to get to. Consider buying a medication organizer with the days of the week to help you keep track. Also, keep emergency treatment, such as epinephrine, with you at all times.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Know how to use your medication.<\/strong>&nbsp; More than half of all people who use inhalers don\u2019t use them properly. Ask your doctor or nurse to watch you and check your technique.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Prevent allergic reactions and avoid your triggers.<\/strong>&nbsp; This is very important but not always easy. This may help you and your doctor find what causes or worsens your symptoms.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Wear a medical alert bracelet (or necklace).<\/strong> If you have ever had a severe allergic reaction, please wear a medical alert bracelet. This bracelet lets others know that you have a severe allergy, and can be life-saving if you have a reaction and are unable to communicate.<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\"><strong>Know when to seek medical help.<\/strong> Seeking medical help for <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aafa.org\/page\/asthma-symptoms.aspx\">asthma<\/a> and\/or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.aafa.org\/page\/anaphylaxis-severe-allergic-reaction.aspx\">allergies<\/a> is nothing to be ashamed of.
