Dyson humidifierIf there’s one thing I stress over and over again, it’s that not all household products are equal. Humidifiers are no different. They can be a breeding ground for bacteria, which can be circulated around the room and into the air you breathe.

Winter is on its way, and so is dryer air. No one wants those chapped lips, dry skin, or dry noses. So how do you find a humidifier that’s not going to trigger your asthma or allergies, yet still keep a room comfortable?

It’s not easy to navigate manufacturer claims such as “hypoallergenic” or “physician recommended,” especially when those claims are unsupported by scientific testing. That’s why the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) started the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program with an independent, physician-led scientific certification organization called Allergy Standards Limited (ASL).

Families like yours spend more than $10 billion annually on products that you believe will reduce asthma and allergy triggers in your home. So it is important look for products that you know are scientifically tested and proven to be more suitable for those with asthma and allergies—like the Dyson Humidifier.

The Dyson Humidifier joins Dyson’s family of Certified products as the first humidifier to be Certified asthma & allergy friendly®. Humidifiers are tested to the Humidifier Certification Standard—which was developed by ASL, reviewed and approved by a medical board, and then adopted by AAFA.

In testing, we look to make sure these machines can humidify your room without negatively impacting your indoor air quality, and the Dyson Humidifier exceeded AAFA’s strict standards. A few of the things we looked at included its capability to:

  • Achieve and maintain relative humidity levels;
  • Sanitize the water during use; and
  • Reduce pre-existing contamination in the room.

In order to pass these requirements, the Dyson Humidifier uses Ultraviolet Cleanse technology to kill 99.9% of bacteria in the water tank before releasing any mist. The machine also measures temperature and humidity and adjusts as needed so there’s no over humidification. For more information about the Dyson Humidifier, click here.
