SOLON, Ohio (August 15, 2016) –Tarkett, a worldwide leader in innovative and sustainable flooring and sports surface solutions, announces today, their Preference® Plus and ValuePro® products are now CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA). This expands the AAFA certification to all Tarkett residential resilient vinyl sheet flooring products. Tarkett is the first flooring manufacturer to receive certification from AAFA for multiple flooring products, for both commercial and residential applications.

“Asthma is the leading chronic disease in children. As one of the world’s leading flooring manufacturers, we are committed to the creation of homes which create healthy environments that are also beautiful to live in”, says Diane Martel, Vice President of Environmental Planning and Sustainability. “We have worked hard to improve the safety of our raw materials and emissions for over a decade – a commitment which is recognized in the breadth of our certifications from the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America.”

As an independent, third-party certification program, the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program helps consumers identify products that are scientifically proven to be more suitable for people with asthma and related allergic sensitivities. Certified flooring products are scientifically tested to prove that the retention of allergens is low, and any allergens collected can be removed by the recommended cleaning techniques. Going beyond the composition and cleaning process, installation of certified flooring must not result in elevated levels of chemicals such as formaldehyde, acetaldehyde or other VOCs.

Improving not just the health and sustainability but also the performance of the products, Tarkett Preference Plus and ValuePro are now finished with an improved urethane seal. The urethane seal improves scratch resistance and durability while offering a consistent, matte finish.

Tarkett offers CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® products for every space, including commercial, light commercial, sports flooring and residential. For more information on the newly certified resilient products, or any other Tarkett products visit www.tarkettna.com.
