As 2016 rolls in, many of us are thinking about our New Year’s resolutions. We may want to exercise more, eat healthier, or take more “me-time.” But it is important to remember your asthma and allergies play a big role in your quality of life too.

Maybe you’ve had allergies since you were little. Or maybe you are new to living with asthma. Regardless of your situation, take advantage of a new year and make a new life for yourself. A life without limits.

Try some of these resolutions to help manage your asthma and allergies in 2016.

Know your triggers. Your eyes water and itch. Your skin is covered in rashes or hives. But what is causing all this? Ask your doctor to help you determine what is causing your symptoms if you are unsure.

Reinvent your cleaning routine. Take active steps toward cleaning correctly and consistently. You may also want to consider upgrading your cleaning products to asthma & allergy friendly® products as well. They are scientifically proven to be more suitable for those with asthma and allergies.

Stay informed. The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) provides updates and tips in a monthly e-newsletter called BReATHE® and a quarterly publication called FreshAAIR®. Sign up for FREE here.

Get involved. You’re not the only one out there with asthma and allergies. In fact, 60 million Americans are just like you. Talk with them and find support here.

Take action. Help your community by fighting for policies for better treatment, improved Medicare and Medicaid benefits, and access to care. For more information on how, click here.

Talk to your doctor. Your doctor is the best person who can give you the most personalized care and advice about managing your asthma and allergies.
