Leah McInerney, Client Success Manager, reports on her experience in Chicago at Design Days and NeoCon
The past few days at Design Days and NeoCon in Chicago were a wonderful experience for Leah McInerney, who as part of the asthma and allergy friendly® Certification Program, has had the pleasure of working closely with the team at Tarkett over the last seven to eight months. She finally got to meet some of the key individuals in person with whom she has collaborated daily. It was fantastic to connect with Beth Doehner, Roxanne Spears, Rachel Berman Birken, and Heidi Deane, all from the sustainability team, who play crucial roles in our shared mission of promoting healthier indoor environments.
One of the highlights of the event was participating in an thought-provoking social equity panel at Design Days where Allergy Standards CEO, Dr. John McKeon, shared his insights. The panel provided diverse perspectives on crucial issues in the built environment, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and equity in creating spaces that are not only sustainable but also accessible and beneficial to all. Dr. McKeon’s contributions were particularly impactful, offering a holistic view of how the Certification Program ties into broader societal goals.
At NeoCon, a pivotal conference for interior designers, the focus was firmly on innovation and health in design. There, we had a productive meeting with Alfredo Valiente and David Underwood from our CERTIFIED clients Benjamin Moore, discussing the development of paint for healthier interior spaces. The conversation was enlightening, highlighting the critical role of paint in maintaining indoor air quality. Benjamin Moore has been a valued partner within the asthma and allergy friendly® Certification Program for several years, and we’re excited to continue working with them. Their commitment to advancing healthy interior spaces aligns perfectly with our mission, and we look forward to collaborative efforts in the coming years.
Our final appointment in Chicago was with Nadia Hill , Communications Manager at True Value. We had the pleasure of catching up at the True Value corporate office to spend some valuable time strategising together before we flew from Chicago to NYC.
Chicago was a wonderful host, providing a vibrant backdrop for these meaningful discussions. Next up is New York, where we will meet more of our certification clients and will continue to spread awareness about the importance of indoor air quality and the role of certified products in creating healthier living environments. Engaging with our clients and partners, we will further our commitment to promoting sustainable and health-conscious design practices.
Stay tuned as we continue our journey towards healthier, more sustainable indoor environments across the nation.
