Window mounted pollen screens are designed to allow ventilation, while removing the burden of pollen particles moving from outdoors into the indoor environment. The filter mesh material in the pollen screen acts as a barrier for the pollen particles and other potential pollutants, ideally leading to better indoor air quality, particularly for those affected by asthma and allergies.
Our Certification Standards utilize an algorithm of proprietary and recognized scientific techniques to assess window mounted pollen screens. Specifically, testing should demonstrate that the product works for the intended purpose of reducing pollen exposure, and that in its chemical or physical construction it does not contribute to increasing triggers of asthma or allergy in the indoor environment.
CERTIFIED asthma & allergy friendly® pollen screens must meet the following standards:
- be capable of blocking pollen from passing through the screen.
- be easily cleanable, so that gathered pollen and dust can be removed.
- be made of materials that do not emit harmful volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- be assessed for allergenic, irritant, banned or restricted chemicals.
