On October 1st 2019, a special client council reception was held at the embassy of Ireland in Washington, DC to celebrate National Indoor Air Quality Awareness Month and the 2019 US-Ireland Research Innovation Award from the Royal Irish Academy and the American Chamber of Commerce. This award was given to Allergy Standards Limited (ASL) and the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) for the development of the asthma & allergy friendly® Certification Program.

The night began with great conversations and cocktails. Kenneth Mendez, AAFA CEO and President, took center stage and spoke of the importance of October National Indoor Air Quality Awareness month. He also introduced the powerful DC Healthier Home Initiative video to the audience which consisted of marketing leaders from some of the biggest US companies to Congressional staffers and aides. Next up was Dr. John McKeon, CEO and co-founder of ASL, who shared his personal story of rushing his youngest child to the ER with a full blown asthma attack. He also discussed the significance of receiving the 2019 US-Ireland Research Innovation Award. The night concluded with the popular Holly O’Driscoll, Former Global Design Thinking Leader at P&G; Founder and CEO at Ampersand Innovation, LLC, who introduced the concept of design thinking and gave the audience hints of what the Client Council workshop would bring the next day.
