During a fun-filled morning for families with food allergies, asthma and other allergic diseases, kids danced to an interactive performance by entertainers Lolly & YoYo and were mesmerized by the Magicians and Illusionists Kyle and Kelly. And who better to make the Strides for Safe Kids food allergy event even more fun and energetic than the lovable Phillie Phanatic – the official mascot of the Philadelphia Phillies.
Families had access to free samples from allergy-friendly businesses and learned all about the companies that offer certified asthma & allergy friendly™ products and services.
Families won amazing raffle products and services thanks to the following Certified companies:
- Air purifiers from Rabbit Air and Fellowes
- A dyson v6 absolute cordless vacuum
- A Bona microfiber floor mop
- A$250 gift certificate from Stanley Steemer
Featured speaker Congressman Brendan Francis Boyle of the Pennsylvania's 13th Congressional District awarded a special certificate to the certified asthma & allergy friendly™ program on our 10th Anniversary. Dr. John McKeon, Co-Founder and CEO of Allergy Standards Ltd (ASL), accepted the citation on behalf of ASL, the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, and the team of scientists working hard to make consumer products more suitable for people with asthma and allergies. Dr. McKeon also spoke about the importance of the certification mark for everyone with asthma and allergies.
Special guest 6abc Action News Meteorologist Adam Joseph shared his story about his son Jacob's multiple food allergies. And then, Dr. McKeon, Congressman Boyle and Adam led an eager crowd of parents and children on the 5K walk around the mall! Thank you to everyone who came out to bring awareness to food allergies, asthma and allergic disease. We're thrilled that Strides for Safe Kids was able to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Certification program with so many honored guests and fabulous prizes.
